All scientists agree.
It’s not IF The Big One Earthquake will hit
it’s WHEN The Big One will hit.
Before The Big One
Here’s what to do to be prepared.
- 1. Get ARCCTV cameras (viewable on a computer monitor) and mount them around each home. They have a VERY useful feature: they willl make automatic video recordings of intruders if they are set correctly when they sense any motion in their field-of-view.
- 2. If the computer that receives the wi-fi signals from the cameras is in a secure room (steel faced door, steel door frame, security pins in the beefy hinges, multiple BIG deadbolt locks), or a safe that is bolted to the floor, you may find home videos of any home invaders who come around.
- 3. Put two pencil thin video cameras on your rear view mirror—one making video recordings of what is taking place in front of the car, the other making movies out the back.
- 4. Have a small, red LED (bright enough to be seen in daylight) mounted in a facia board high up at the peak of your roof, in plain sight of the driveway. Upon returning home, if the LED is on, it means your silent security system has been triggered. Seeing the red LED, you use your driveway to pretend you are turning around and drive away. You drive to the police station and do not return to the house until you have a police escort. In the driveway, you give the police the key to the door and wait for them to come back out to tell you the house is safe. If it takes awhile for the police to perform their escort duty, you wait. Wait as long as it takes.
- 5. Along the same line of thinking, if someone tries to hijack you or your car, drive away slowly while calling the police. When they tell you a "unit" is on its way to intercept you, tell them where you are. When the police arrive, stay in your car and point to the suspect's car. At night, drive to the police station while letting them know you are arriving at their location.
For The Big One
For The Big One (earthquake) do this.
- 1. at your house collect these items. If you happen to be at home when catastrophe strikes, you’re all set. If you are not at home and are too far away to hike there, you will have to depend on safe locations and friends until you can get back home.
- 1.1. a solar rechargeable AM/FM/Weather radio since the feds will probably execute the Internet and cell phone shut down procedure they’ve been practicing
- 1.2. super bright high tech flashlight in its holster on your belt at all times. Draw the flashlight when you draw your gun to blind the attacker as you fire the gun.
- 1.3. a .38 special with hollow point bullets in its holster on your belt at all times. Be sure to always have your .38 in the bed with you when you sleep or nap.
- 1.4. long storage survival food supplies
- 1.5. a twig fueled Rocket Stove for cooking
Here’s a link to a rocket stove from Amazon
- 1.6. plenty of distilled water in PLASTIC 5 gallon bottles
- 1.7. a camping style outdoor latrine with a small shovel to use when shifting the latrine
- 2. put a backpack in the trunk (or back) of your car. in it put
- 2.1. a Garmin GPS hand-held navigation tool with spare batteries. The Garmin I have is an Oregon 300 model. Study the Garmin instructions and practice until you can operate the GPS navigation tool easily. Store the Garmin with the batteries removed. (A battery leak will destroy your Garmin.) Each year, in January and July (J&J) put batteries into your Garmin and check that it is still operating. The Garmin will hold your waypoint library even with the batteries removed.
Every time you visit a friend's location, add a waypoint to the Garmin and give it the name of your friend.
Every time you visit a safe location (like a police station or a library) that does NOT offer food, cash, clothes or shelter (which will attract lawless marauders) set another waypoint and name it with the location.
- 2.2. hiking socks,
- 2.3. hiking shoes,
- 2.4. a light but warm jacket
- 2.5. a 38 special in its holster loaded with hollow point bullets,
- 2.6. a belt pouch of .38 special hollow nose bullets for reloading,
- 2.7. energy food bars,
- 2.8. two bottles of distilled water,
- 2.9. a thin rain poncho with a hood
When the big one hits there will be
- 1. no passable roads. You will probably have to abandon your car and travel on foot.
- 2. no air travel,
- 3. no train travel,
- 4. no electric power,
- 5. no land line telephones and no cell phone communication,
- 6. no TV,
- 7. no Internet,
- 8. no radio (unless you have a battery or solar powered unit)
- 9. no natural gas
- 10. no sewer operation
- 11. your Garmin will list your waypoints in the order of their closeness to where YOU currently are. Pick one. The Garmin will point the way. Travel straight across country directly to the safe location avoiding all roads and buildings. Use bushes and foliage to hide yourself as you pass through each area. If you hear people, hide. If they find you and you’re a beautiful woman, give one warning and then shoot. If there were any police around you would repeat over and over, “I was in fear of immediate injury or death” when they ask you over and over, “why did you shoot the armed criminals?” If you have to shoot, leave immediately and continue your cross country walk to one of your safe locations.
- 12. A really big tectonic movement may cause a landslide to crash into the ocean. When this happens a mega tsunami is generated.
Tsunami waves (caused by an undersea earthquake) can only reach a maximum height (set by physics) of 32 feet.
A mega tsunami (caused by a large cliff sliding into the sea) can be any height. If a 500 foot high wave or a 1,000 foot wave (or higher) crashes into LA it might flood all the way to Pomona, Redlands or even Palm Springs or Yuma.
If society breaks down, roaming armed criminals will search for:
- • food
- • cash
- • gems
- • precious metals
- • guns
- • and sex.
If you are a beautiful female, all you have to protect yourself is
- • your wits,
- • your skill at hiding,
- • the items you have with you
- • your friends (if you can hike to get to them) and
- • your .38.
There will be NO “police presence.” Police who are not at home protecting their own families from marauding gangs will most likely be out protecting firemen to prevent a fire storm (with no water in the broken water mains to fight it).
Make the best preparations you can and hope that the military can wrest control back from the criminals before the criminals find you. If the criminals do find you, you know what you have to do.
